The external antenna is placed outside the building where it can catch the existing weak signal from the nearest cellular tower. Then it sends that weak signal to the amplifier for boosting. After boosting the amplifier sends the boosted signal to the internal antenna for broadcasting. The internal antenna is placed inside the building where boosted signal is required. The internal antenna broadcasts the boosted signals inside the building.
